Templeton Reid $10.00 40 Stars Undated Variety Specimen striking or Prooflike Uncirculated ex: U.S. Mint Collection
This incredible specimen is by far the finest of the two known specimens in the Smithsonian Collection and has to be rated the finest of any known Templeton Reid specimen of any denomination or variety. This coin has not been referenced in any numismatic publications as a Specimen striking but is fully struck and more likely was specially struck from specially prepared dies. The reeding is full with the obverse die showing slight evidence of double striking, evident in the G of GEORGIA. The reverse is brilliant with several minor handling marks evident. The coin is slightly bowed probably from removal from the dies.
